Revolutionary Black Grace
Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, her office said Tuesday, without providing an explanation for her decision.
“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” a statement from the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama said.
The decision to forgo attendance at Trump’s formal swearing-in is a break with tradition for the ceremony, in which former presidents and their wives typically participate.

My heart is filled to overflowing after reading this post from CNN.
THIS is what you call Revolutionary Black Grace. When a Blk Wmn chooses herself first and unapologetically lays down the baggage of guilt that usually accompanies such a decision.
Walk it out Sista Michelle Obama! You are not alone. This is what it looks like for a Blk Wmn to lay aside the weight of the world and refuse to be responsible for anyone's feelings because she did. Disconnected from what does not give life. And she is not the only one of us in this space. Many of us are discovering this new territory together.
Revolutionary . . . "involving or causing a complete dramatic change"
Not showing up in places where you are not appreciated, desired, or welcomed, because political society says you should show up is as "complete and dramatic" as it gets. As my mom used to say, "Kissing asses went out of style with Moses."
Black Grace . . . Michelle Obama has been the epitome of Black Grace since before she became Barack Obama's wife. Her Black Grace is the golden thread that ties together the pages of her life into a beautiful survivor story.
It is the constant reflection of that inward Black Grace that carried the former first lady through 8 years on the world stage of the White House. And now, it is her turn to feel the warmth that has enveloped the rest of the world, deservedly or undeservedly. She owes it to herself for the rest of her life as far as I am concerned.
It does not matter if she is missing the inauguration for an important meeting, or to get her hair did. It is an intentional choice to focus on what is a priority for Michelle Obama. And that is all that matters.
Not explaining? MORE Revolutionary Black Grace.
Why?
Because the former first lady is too classy to dignify the question with the response it deserves.
Because the former first lady is out of the habit of crafting polite ways to decline offering the gift of her presence to someone deserving of so much less.
Because the former first lady is too tired to wrap her mind around the conversation she must have with herself to even process the situation.
Because quite simply . . . IT . . . DOES . . . NOT . . . MATTER.
Brava Michelle Obama! BRAVA!!
Signed,
The Angry Blk Wmn
